"AMTE" A Phenomenon

Phenomenon 2Definition: That which strikes one as strange, unusual, or unaccountable; an extraordinary or very remarkable person, thing, or occurrence; as, a musical phenomenon.

Baba Amte and his work that his co-workers and family members is nothing less than a"Phenomenon".I say this for the unparalleled work they are performing amidst these "progressive" modern times.Civilizations may have grown and seen the days of futuristic world, but the people in the interiors of Independent Nations still remain nomads and tribal. The educated and intelligent masses are still unaware of 'Leprosy"at large. Why doesn't the media bring things of such importance to the fore rather than spending valuable hours and money over a mean fight in Politics or Bollywood. The real support for 'human tragedy is never received simply because it is unglamourous, non TRP rating or sensational.
This blog is purely to vent my anger over people who spends valuable resources in totally vulgar ways and not help the real human brotherhood.I try to bring to notice of people who care to "do"something for the "cause".Advising and lecturing is easy...action is difficult. Can you imagine if you had a dreaded disease and were taken away from your own house and family and left at the doorstep of an institution and were left to live your entire life at 'God's mercy so to say.??
Having something never makes you satisfied...it only makes you want more.Have you thought of giving or sharing your 'good life' with fellow humans?Only when you do not have something..you value it really and truly.
I suggest a visit to the Maharogi Seva Samiti's projects could be a good way to find out what life is all about. You may go to many a place for a holiday and suggest people too about the fun and beauty...go to some thing more realistic rather than artificially made. The vagaries of mankind...find out what true dedication is and where heaven can be made on earth for those who deserve it most.
Please do see Lok Biradari Prakalp( Hemalkasa) ,Anandwan (Warora),
http://mss.niya.org/projects/
http://www.lokbiradariprakalp.org/
http://baba.niya.org/index.php?page=Dr_Vikas_Amte

Having met all concerned with these projects,I have taken it as a personal task to whatever I can to help in any which way I can and make my life worthwhile living.
Dr Vikas Amte, his Son Kausthubh Amte,Dr Prakash Amte,His sons Aniket and Dr. Digant,
The Amte Ladies who stand by and more than ably support namely Dr Madakini P Amte,Dr.Bharti V Amte,Dr. Anagha D Amte,Samiksha A Amte ,Pallavi K Amte and now growing up with same zeal and zest Arnav D Amte Dr. Digant's son.....all with the able help, support, dedication of their co-workers..To name a few,
Vilas & Renuka Manohar, Gopal & Prabha Phadnis, Dada & Baban Panchal, Jagan Machkale, Manohar & Sandhya Yempalwar etc. and many more who I will mention in my future blogs are doing such yeomen service that it puts entire governments who run on public money to shame..
On one hand I feel so proud of this family and on the other so angered by the attutude of the world ,in which they perform this fabulous task towards humanity, not paying proper heed and not value this work. I realise though that venting anger is better done by working harder for the cause than complaining about something and blaming someone!!

Indian Road and Traffic sense ....calls for discipline

Having read a mail given below I was taken aback. The outside world has very little praise for our(Indian) Road and vehicle traffic .I bring this out here in my blog to make the Administrative and Political persons know their responsibility.Making them aware isn't enough...it is making them read and listen to what people think and how they laugh about our discipline regarding usage of Transport and infrastructure.
Here by the way is the article excerpts...
This hilarious article was written by a Dutchman who spent two years in Bangalore, India, as a visiting expert. A little long article but worth reading it!!!

Driving in Bangalore / India

For the benefit of every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting India and daring to drive on Indian roads, I am offering a few hints for survival. They are applicable to every place in India except Bihar, where life outside a vehicle is only marginally safer.

Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you do your best, and leave the results to your insurance company. The hints are as follows: Do we drive on the left or right of the road?

The answer is "both". Basically you start on the left of the road, unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in chess. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional fatality. Most drivers don't drive, but just aim their vehicles in the generally intended direction.

Don't you get discouraged or underestimate yourself except for a belief in reincarnation; the other drivers are not in any better position. Don't stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the back.

Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but then, let us not talk ill of the dead.

Blowing your horn is not a sign of protest as in some countries. We horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust (two brisk blasts),or just mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of the bazaar. Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister's motorcade, or waiting for the rainwater to recede when over ground traffic meets underground drainage.

Occasionally you might see what looks like a UFO with blinking colored lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrims go at breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty, often meeting with success.

Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi): The result of a collision between a rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified fare. After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course, the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn Newton's laws of motion en route to school. Auto-rickshaw drivers follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur, and are licensed to irritate.

Mopeds: The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough for a ride, the moped drivers tend to drive in the middle of the road; they would rather drive under heavier vehicles instead of around them and are often "mopped" off the tarmac.

Leaning Tower of Passes: Most bus passengers are given free passes and during rush hours, there is absolute mayhem. There are passengers hanging off other passengers, who in turn hang off the railings and the overloaded bus leans dangerously, defying laws of gravity but obeying laws of surface tension. As drivers get paid for overload (so many Rupees per kg of passenger), no questions are ever asked. Steer clear of these buses by a width of three passengers.

One-way Street: These boards are put up by traffic people to add jest in their otherwise drab lives. Don't stick to the literal meaning and proceed in one direction. In metaphysical terms, it means that you cannot proceed in two directions at once. So drive as you like, in reverse throughout, if you are the fussy type. Least I sound hypercritical, I must add a positive point also. Rash and fast driving in residential areas has been prevented by providing a "speed breaker"; two for each house. This mound, incidentally, covers the water and drainage pipes for that residence and is left untarred for easy identification by the corporation authorities, should they want to recover the pipe for year-end accounting.

Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience for those with the mental make up of Genghis Khan. In a way, it is like playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon passes.

Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in the truck is the driver, and with the peg of illicit arrack (alcohol) he has had at the last stop, his total cerebral functions add up to little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India, and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to investigate. You may prove your point posthumously.

It is time the RTAs,Motorists,Departmental officers and Agencies,Tourism Personnel look into this dismal state of affairs and get stricter and more disciplined. To become a good Nation each individual has to learn self discipline.Whether it be India or otherwise.

The Earth Hour

I wasn't surprised....that even after so much publicity and information ,very few of us abided by the 'Earth Hour'. From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm my mother and I switched off our entire electric supply and sat chatting in the balcony of my flat in Pune.Overlooking the Kothrud area...apart from the society immediately in front of me(Kumar Parisar)of 3 buildings, there were very very
few noticeable flats, houses or buildings, who followed the appeal.
It only proved very few turned into action the thoughts that were put in their minds.I noticed at the "Vasundhara"festival at Yeshwantrao Chavan auditorium in Kothrud,Pune, that even though after such a well organised film show and photo exhibition with lectures from selected speakers...that people actually participated in full earnest.Sad was only what I could say!
Hypocrisy prevails or rather rules!!
When will man grow in thought?I suggest to those who I feel care, reading of 2 books.....
http://www.amazon.com/Fall-Human-Intellect-Parthasarathy/product-reviews/8187111933
and the other one being
http://newagejournal.com/2007/spirituality/eckhart-tolles-a-new-earth-picked-by-oprah
I do this because these books have shown me a new way to life which I have now taken in my last leg of physical existence in this body.
Man(human Being) before some woman takes objection....should commit himself to sanity.
Peace,love,co-existence,respect,equality of opportunity etc....is what one should try and AIM.
http://www.enterprisemedia.com/product/00270/stephen_covey_leadership_library_video_set.html
I suggest everyone sees this video and thinks....and applies !
The Earth Hour was only for sixty minutes..believe me if there are not many more like these..
precious moments will feel like decades when the time comes....that will destruct...It really is self destruction!!!

Excuses for actions....

Funny,I just had a call from my daughter asking me if she could stay with her friend....Reasons being.....x,y, z. and I had a thorough laugh within me.I already had anticipated this. She is 18, not allowed to do a lot of things as she is a girl and young at that too.
It wasn't an expected answer which I gave.I said she old enough to understand what was good and bad.I also added that if she felt it was the right thing to do, to go ahead. The days asking of permission(reluctantly, but couldn't be helped) was a time that had already gone by.She is a thinking person...she plans, anticipates, shrewdly connives...What she doesn't know is my clarity of approach.
It was the day she turned 18 that I told all my kids who were 24,21&18 that, now that you have all majored as adults, you have to seek your goals and decide what you have to do and how.if during your effort I could help, I surely would.I had tried to give them all what I could that was at my disposal.
That day,I also breathed a sigh of relief...as the kids of the present do not follow principles that WE ask or think of.I only prayed to the Almighty to give them the good sense. The rest I would accept and deal with.I as a parent am very different.I never expected them to become a Doctor,Engineer,It professional etc...Money was never the criteria of achievement.Their interests and love for life was more important to me.I as a person couldn't do what i had planned or wanted and then when Dad expired LIFE was thrust on me.I learned and am happy I did the way I was given to.No regrets.
I learned from my experiences,my relatives, friends, acquaintances etc...The strongest and most difficult lessons were taught by the ones I loved most.So they are embedded deep and help me to guide others in their journey ahead.
Taken aback my daughter couldn't say anything more so the conversation ended. She had never anticipated I would say this.My sister and me were brought up with a Confidence in us by our parents. We never let them down.We never went the wrong way....I am proud of that...I pray my kids do too...

Women in India answer self proclaimed Moral Judges

It was high time the Indian woman gave their opinion about culture, morals & ethics to the self proclaimed Individuals,Groups,Social/Political parties....etc...

The answer was in the colour Pink.

Unlike all the political and Socially used colours.

All know that the mass psychology has been manipulated with by many a group to garner sentiment towards thier "Interest/s"

RED stood for Revolution,Communism,Strong Redblooded eyes who were fighting for equal rights.

GREEN always stood for 'LIFE'...Vegetation that had to have water by it's side. All this so important in the Desert where you have only Yellow sands below and all around and the blue sy with the scorching Sun.

BLUE is the freedom of the sky for the Republican mood of living.Cool and soothing.

ORANGE is for the setting sun but more so for "The Rising Sun"...Hope,new life,Blessings of the creator...Sanctification from the Black Darkness of the Night...to the Light of knowledge...

BLACK is for evil, darkness, eerie, deplorable, falsehood, unofficial etc...

WHITE stands for purity, virginity, peace, innocence, ignorance, truth.

Does any colour belong to anyone? we allocate colours with a meaning and associate it with some particular process.Human psychology plays a great part in all these things mentioned earlier....

Good/Bad

Ethical/Unethical

Religious/Unreligious

Action,colour, reaction,freedom

Moral or amoral...

The prime rule/principle of the Universe is Unity in Diversity (Co--existence)...but Man doesn't seem to follow it.All those Scientists,Historians and so on have had so many theories and answers which all go to show that there is nothing that can be commonly applied to human thought.Iit is only the supposition of majority based opinion. The chances seem greater because the majority leans on a particulae side. So it is due to Positive thinking process that we take the premise but may apply it negatively ....this is where they have a wrong premise.
Hypothetical thought and Presumtion both can be fallacies.Logic is majority based but not necessarily true.
e.g. > God is Love, Love is Blind...therefore God is Blind....a wrong conclusion.

Why doesn't man use his thought and energy for constructive things? The more he puts effort in more controversial and negative thought the more importance he is giving to it and making it known to even those who are ignorant.....Now everyone is inquisitive to find out about Valentines Day...

There are countries who do not allow news of drugs to be printed by the press. This is to curb the knowledge of it's use and availability by more people....which is an excellent step..Unlike what we see on television where they show how it is used/abused,who sells it,where to procure it and educate and inform even the ignorant and make them inquisitive enough to find our more about it.Would not they have been better with it being kept away from these people's knowledge?

Women have as much of a right to all that men have.Who are we to become judges of this?
Equality is one of the prime principles in Nature...Ability is another thing though. these are often confused.Ask a medical person what men can't do that women can and men will be thinking seriously.(not to mention pregnancy) A male Chauvinistic approach in life has made society do what they do. open minded and broad thinking is lacking, more so because of illiteracy and ignorance.

I also believe that literacy can be enough to bring about common sense or broadminded thought and vision. There are too many illiterate or less literate people who have been wise and visionary.Genius is an unexplainable phenomenon.

All fields have women proving themselves in nearly all places around the world. It is time society takes note and stops becoming a hypocrite.I am trying to force anything on anyone for it is not possible and is against the law of nature.Capability,ability,success,possibility....are all words that spell 'HOPE'. The main stay of human future. The elixir so to say!...

I applaud and appreciate the stand women have taken and hope that proper thought be applied to any action before it is taken by anyone in society.Law and law protectors have to be given the proper vision too.I pray that "good sense come to all those concerned".

The economy is at stake, the social justice system too is endangered, the fear factor in one's own country is a terrible thought, the businesses which rely on people whose hearts are full of love and compassion will greatly suffer, hatred will be on the increase, enemity due to narrow mindedness may reach a high, frustrations of people will come to the fore...all this has to be avoided at any costs..

India should not be a country of distaste, rather we should set examples to be followed by the world.Women have a UNIQUE place in this culture. We have the maximum number of Goddesses in the entire world because we respect 'women'. Mother,Wife,Sister,Grandmother,Aunt....then why not FRIEND? I suggest the women take up the cause of putting sense into society....

Deserving Institutions that CARE for Humanity....

1) Swaranandwan
Swaranandwan is a unique orchestra having its own colours and individuality. Dr. Vikas Amte with the help of “Share and Care & UNICEF” has written, directed and staged this Orchestra in 2002. It contains Marathi & Hindi songs, mimicry, folkdances and much more. The purpose of this orchestra is to provide a platform for the talent of Leprosy cured patients; Visually Challenged (blind) orally and autistically challenged (deaf and dumb) also physically challenged (handicapped). It is really amazing and also very touching to see when these challenged boys and girls dance to the beat of music. This Orchestra also gives opportunity to these children, to earn their livelihood with respect and self esteem. It has given their Life a purpose. This has saved them from social rejection, depression and dejection or else they would have to lead a life at other people’s mercy.

2) Maharogi Sewa Samiti (Anandwan)A message received on the New Year’s Eve from Dr Vikas Amte (elder son of late Baba Amte) reads, “MSS Anandwan enters 60th year. Eventful, relentless battle and journey continues. We are focused and determined to carry out Baba Amte’s mission and unfinished agenda ‘from Pen friendship to Pain friendship and from Stones to Milestones”. We need you to be with us in our common cause more than ever. HAPPY NEW YEAR and best of luck to you and our nation.”It speaks volumes. Baba is the only person with three generations, carrying out his mission with the same zeal and with modifications suiting the changed circumstances. It is to doubt whether Baba and his work is known to even 0.1% Indians. The commonly known probably are Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Bharat Jodo and Narmada Bachao movements. These are but the tip of an Iceberg. More than 300 hundred or more pages would be insufficient to describe the work done by him and his three generations with a wide number of activities.

3) Prism Foundation
Since 18 years, Prism Foundation is working in the field of special education through its four branches. Its Phoenix School is taking care of children who cannot cope up with the mainstream schools due to learning difficulties/short comings e.g. Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, poor concentration, weak memory etc. LARC (Learning Assistance Research Centre) is moulding the special children having multiple disabilities like mental retardation, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, autism etc. Madhavi Ogale Vocation School equips these challenged children above 18 years, with skills like baking, canning, file making, screen printing and actual operations in production and sale of these products .Through the Bennu Training Institute, Prism Foundation is creating awareness and understanding of special education not only in mainstream schools but in society at large. It also provides In-house professional training as well as training to teachers, students from other educational Institutes. It is the aim of Prism Foundation to take special education one step closer to the needy child. Prism Foundation is committed to see that this special child grows and develops not only into an educated being but a well groomed all round adult with high moral values and standards in Life. The Foundation doesn’t get any aid from the government. It runs mainly on donations by individuals and organizations; partially on fees paid by the students. Financial aid from a large organization would help create a better infrastructure with new improved facilities.

4) Jnyana Prabodhini Sholapur’s school at Harali, District OsmanabadOur Society is very sensitive and responsive to natural calamities. This was proven during the Earthquake in 1993 whose epicenter was Khilari. Such memories are short lived too. Tons of food and clothes are poured in immediately after the Quake. Only a few consider long term needs. Jnyana Prabodhini Solapur was one who did. After the initial dust settled, they toured the area to understand such needs and realized that a good quality education was needed for those affected. The number of students was high for such school in that area and travelling facilities were poor. A non grant school was established in 1993.Surely the facility and quality of education would differ in a rural setup unlike in Pune, but the moral conduct and cultivation of good values could always be taught. At present the strength of the school is 448 of which 218 are residential students. They have purchased about 60 acres of land and planted around 5000 trees. In the last a respectable building of 40,000 Sq.Ft. has been constructed. The present need of an additional area for residential students along with an accommodation for its staff and teachers is to be fulfilled.

5) Samaj Shikshan Mandal Vinzar’s Amruteshwar Arts College at the foot of Rajgad, District Pune.Should we not be ashamed that VELHE Taluka of Pune District is one of the 40 backward ones in India? We know about Torna Fort and are aware that Rajgad was the head quarter of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the powerful Maratha, for many years. The Taluka boundary starts at 30kms from Pune but the areas between Panshet Dam on one side and Velhe (the Taluka head quarter) on the other is not connected by an all weather road until this day. On one hand it has a rainfall of 300-400 mm but the area faces scarcity of drinking water during summer. Once upon a time a good number of residents worked in cities like Mumbai in the Mills providing support to their brethren. That picture has changed and the children, especially girls face a problem for education. It is costly to send children outside for education. The college, run by Samaj Shikshan Mandal, although aided by the government, needs help to fulfill modern and new facilities. The village has 900-1000 students for which a building is provided by the trust and the High school is run by Vivekanand Society of Kolhapur. This being the foundational activity a better building needs to be provided. At present it is only an Arts College but more can be done for its betterment and expansion of activities in more areas & more acres of land is proposed to be purchased and in there, buildings and sports facilities are to be constructed.

Sadguru - A humble reverence to our Gurus

I thank the Lord for making this Year a special one for me. The production of a music CD was not even a dream in my life.I never had thought or wondered about it. It has happened though..
Funnily things happen in a chain of events.Going back in time wondering how I met the people involved in the making of this CD, makes me aware of the Destiny and Fate both which I believe in.
There surely is a life Pre-written and events can't be altered. One link undone breaks the entire chain.Such planning with so many souls in the universe is dumbfounding.I have to say that I am Blessed.
This CD is about what a "SADGURU" GIVES TO HIS DISCIPLE. The Sadguru is the knowledgeable one.he knows who has the capacity and rightful destiny to become his Shishya(disciple) It is a serious relationship(Sambandh)Unlike Gurus and their Chelas spoken of lightly in good humour.
You do not 'make' a Guru.He chooses his disciple.he decides whim to give what and also teaches through his actions and words the Philosophy and secret of LIFE. I have earlier written about Life,Living and Livelihood.
The seriousness of the Relation is so great that, even a Mother can't dream of.She does give birth by keeping you in her womb for 9 months. Finally pushing you out in to the world.A Guru takes you within him and lives the life along with you(the disciple)he guides him/her and protects too. This is a Sambandh, not a Sampark like all other relations.Sampark is contact by some man made relationship.Being a part of the whole is different as is being a connection to a social group like Family etc...
This Music CD tells you of what is given by the Guru,What is received by the disciple and how.The feelings and emotions, their intensity and value. The songs have been penned by Prof. Narayandas Chotia and the Music has been Composed by my Dear friend Anand Modak.Mr Chotia is my friend ,philosopher, guide, mentor, family, disciple of His Sadguru Swami Vikasanand. Lambé Maharaj is the name of Sahab(Swami Vikasanand)He has written this as his memoirs pertaining to the relation ship between him and his Guru.he says he does write poetry but nothing like what has come of his pen in The memory of his Satugru.
Anand has devotedly and with great dedication composed the music which he believes has 'come' to him by the grace of the almighty. It is truly inspirational.
The singers, Ravindra Sathe,Devki Pandit,Raghunandan Panshikar,Roopkumar Rathod and Jayshree Shivram are extraordinary.Their soul speaks in these song recitals.
Narendra Bhide is amazing in his work and his studio is a place of worship. The Music arrangement was superb and the technicians were wonderful. All the rhythm artists,percussionists,etc...were very talented.
The words take the cake. While listening to this CD you tend to love music, melody and voice but when you get involved the words take your attention away from it all.The meanings are deep.
I saw the CD on the rack in Crossword and was unbelievably amazed.I bought the last copy there.I am in the 7th heaven and just waiting to tell the world about what I produced..
God has been Kind to me.
